Is everyone on AFF real?
Every profile needs a short video recorded live in the AFF app, and a person on our team reviews it before the profile appears in the live list or in Nearby. Review helps keep fake and catfish accounts out, but it isn't an identity or background check — so always follow our safety tips.
How does video review work?
After you record your 8-second profile video, it goes to our review team. They check that it was recorded in the app, that it's the same person as your profile photos, and that it follows our Community Guidelines. You can see the status in the app. If we can't approve a video, we'll tell you why so you can record a new one.
What does "online now" mean?
The green dot and "Active now" show people who are using AFF right now. The live list updates as people come and go, so you can say hi while they're around.
How does Nearby use my location?
When you tap Search in Nearby, AFF asks for your location while you're using the app and uses it to work out your city. Other members only ever see your city — never your exact location. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings.
Is AFF free?
AFF is free to download, and you can create your profile, browse who's online and say hi without paying. Nearby is part of AFF Premium, which is available as a weekly or monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy. See the subscription terms.
How do I report or block someone?
Tap ⋯ on their profile or on their row in the list, then choose Report this user or Block this user. Blocking takes effect immediately, and you can unblock people later in Settings → Blocked users. If you're ever in danger, contact local emergency services first.
